Thales requires an experienced Field Service Engineer to augment the existing Senior FSR and be responsible for providing technical support and advice to the Naval Electronics Warfare (NEW) team based at Abbey Wood. This is to include the key role of establishing a direct working relationship with the customer in order to optimise the technical advice and initial query answering service. The FSR\'s normal daily routine will be in support of the ESM Reference Rig in the Thales service centre Crawley.
Thales has been awarded the Prime Contract by the MoD to support the Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems fitted to naval vessels as part of the U3SC Electronics Warfare (EW) support contract. Thales has also been appointed as the UK Sub Prime contractor for providing technical support to all Thales ESM equipment on the Naval vessels. The post is within the Through Life Support Engineering Department (TLSE), a sub division of the Military Customer Support (MCS) Business Line. The TLSE Department provides ILS engineering, Through Life Capability and Test Equipment management to all Thales Business Units. The TLSE also provides technical and logistical management resource and expertise to Integrated Operational Support (IOS) Programmes, which are long-term service-based support solutions to MoD platforms.
The Field Service Engineer\'s main duties will include the following:
As the ideal candidate you will have current first line maintenance experience in EW systems as fitted to UK naval vessels. Along with this you will have an appreciation of the operation of EW systems within the confines of a Naval vessel environment.
This job requires good interpersonal, written and communication skills. You will have the gravitas to achieve buy-in and influence decision making. You will be educated to HNC level or Military equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering.
